
Skidaway Island Methodist Church is excited to announce the creation of a Fine Arts Academy led by SIMC's Choir Director, Carrie Kitchen. The Academy will initially provide music instruction through small group classes and private instruction in voice and piano. The Academy will be expanded in the near future to include art instruction as well as a broader array of instruments.
Our mission at Skidaway Fine Arts Academy is to commit to providing transformative educational experiences that nurture creativity, develop technical proficiency, and instill a lifelong passion for musical and artistic expression. Through personalized instruction, innovative curriculum, and a supportive community, we empower students to utilize their God- given potential as skilled musicians and confident performers.

Carrie has a degree in music education from Georgia Southern and is the choral director at Johnson HS. She previously worked with the Savannah Children’s Choir and has a passion for teaching and inspiring others.
About Carrie
Carrie Kitchen has been singing with our Chancel Choir for two years and was recently asked to serve in an expanded role as our part-time Choir Director.
Classes
All classes will run from August through May and will need at least 5 students to run. If classes don’t meet the minimum of 5 students, the students in the class will still meet it will just run like a semi private lesson as opposed to a class. Classes will also observe all major school holidays and follow the public school calendar.
Lessons
The student works one on one with the instructor. Lessons can be private or semi private with up to three students in a lesson. Parent(s) must be present during the duration of the lesson, if the student is under 18.
